Corporate Perjury:
Executives Lie
STANFORD, Connecticut (BUSINESS
WIRE) -- With the former President impeached on perjury charges by the House of
Representatives, what about lying in the corporate world by job-seeking senior management
executives? Is it done? How widespread is it? Do they get caught?
According to Richard Taylor, a leading executive recruiter, one-third of candidates
looking for executive positions in technology, with compensation of $150,000 and higher,
tell blatant lies on their resumes - about previous jobs, schools, degrees,
responsibilities and more.
7 IN 10 DRUG USERS WORK
FULL-TIME
WASHINGTON (AP) - Seven in 10
people who used illegal drugs in 1997 had full-time jobs, the government reports.
Officials hope the data will dispel notions that most drug users are burned out and
disconnected from the mainstream.
"The typical drug user is not poor and unemployed,'' said Barry McCaffrey, the White
House drug policy director. "He or she can be a coworker, a husband or wife, a
parent.''
2 Killed During
Office Shooting
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- When city
worker Jim McGuigan heard the commotion outside his office, he thought there was a fight.
Then he saw the bodies.
Peeking into a conference room, McGuigan saw one man in a pool of blood near the head of a
conference table, and another lying not too far away. He heard a man cry out for help.
"At that point, I couldn't feel that I could go further into the room,'' said
McGuigan, a building maintenance mechanic. "I didn't know who was there.''
